The Opportunity
This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished legal professional to lead and grow our Banking & Finance team into a market leader. As a Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor to financial institutions, corporates, fintech companies, and private equity firms. You will shape the future of the practice, working on high-profile transactions and regulatory matters while mentoring the next generation of legal talent.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership:
- Build and lead a market-leading Banking & Finance team, ensuring the highest standards of legal service and client satisfaction.
- Drive the growth of the practice by identifying new opportunities in banking, structured finance, and emerging financial technologies.
Client Engagement & Business Development:
- Cultivate strong relationships with banks, private equity firms, fintech companies, and other key players in the financial ecosystem.
- Advise clients on a wide range of matters, including corporate lending, syndicated loans, project finance, trade finance, asset finance, and restructuring.
- Anticipate and address emerging issues in sustainable finance, digital currencies, and financial regulation to keep clients ahead of the curve.
Transactional Expertise:
- Lead negotiations and provide strategic counsel on high-stakes transactions, including cross-border financings, securitizations, and acquisition finance.
- Work closely with clients to design innovative financing structures and solutions.
Regulatory Advisory:
- Advise clients on compliance with evolving financial regulations, including anti-money laundering (AML), Basel III, and digital banking frameworks.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to help clients navigate emerging regulatory challenges in global financial markets.
Team Development:
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of associates and counsel, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Drive professional development within the team, ensuring technical excellence and commercial awareness.
Firm Strategy & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other practice areas (e.g., corporate, disputes, and fintech) to deliver seamless, multidisciplinary legal solutions.
- Play an integral role in shaping the firm’s broader strategy, contributing to growth and profitability.
Technical Qualifications
Legal Expertise:
- LL.B or equivalent legal qualification from a recognized institution; admitted to practice law in one or more jurisdictions. An LL.M is preferable but not mandatory where candidate can demonstrate significant practice experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience, with significant exposure to banking & finance transactions
- Expertise in at least two or more of the following: syndicated lending, project finance, acquisition finance, restructuring, fintech, or asset finance.
Business Acumen:
- Proven ability to develop and execute business development strategies in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
- A strong network of industry contacts and a track record of building a sustainable client portfolio.
Leadership Skills:
- Experience managing and mentoring teams to achieve high performance.
- A forward-thinking leader with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.
- Innovative Problem Solver:
- Ability to deliver commercially driven, innovative, and practical legal solutions tailored to client needs.
Global Perspective:
- A strong understanding of international infrastructure and energy markets, regulations, and emerging trends (e.g., renewable energy and sustainability initiatives).
